TAG Heuer Men's WJF2011.BA0592 Link Calibre 5 Day-Date Automatic Watch
Product Description
Crisp, polished and impeccable, this fine timepiece from TAG Heuer is a luxury waiting to be worn. Its handsome, 20-millimeter-wide stainless-steel band links to a 42-millimeter-in-diameter stainless-steel case. A polished, stainless-steel bezel frames the silver-tone dial of this watch and is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire dial window. Silver-tone shape hour indicators, silver stick minute and second markers and a date window at the six o'clock position add beauty and convenience to the dial. Written hour labels and a day-of-the-week calendar window at the 12 o'clock position add a unique touch, while luminescent hands makes it easy to read this automatic watch that's water resistant to an impressive 660 feet.
I purchased this watch directly from Amazon two weeks ago. I noticed that it gains about 10 seconds per day, or around 1.24 minutes per week. I was initially concerned about this and was considering sending it back to be either repaired or replaced. I hated to go through that hassle, however. In the process of doing this, I learned that while it is an authentic Tag watch, it isn't covered by the Tag warranty, because Amazon isn't an authorized Tag dealer. It is covered by a two year warranty from Amazon though. Amazon was willing to refund my money if I returned it, but as I did some research, it seemed that this is a common issue with Tag mechanical watches, and mechanical watches in general. This is the first watch that non-battery operated watch I've owned in years.
I called the Tag service center to talk to a repair tech about my watch and get a ballpark cost of paying to have it repaired. The tech asked me how much time it gained per week. I told her about 1.24 minutes per week. She told me that the tolerance was 2 minutes per week and that my watch was within the tolerance. As a result of this information and other information that I found online, I've decided to do nothing.
In conclusion, I was a little concerned when I learned that the watch wasn't covered by the Tag warranty. Given that I saved around a thousand dollars, I'm ok with the tradeoff. As far as the watch gaining time, after researching that issue, I'm ok with that as well. The watch is beautiful and I am well satisfied.
